Business Awards

The BBI honours the very best the Black business community has to offer in a number of ways.

Each year, an Entrepreneur of the Year is selected and highlights an entrepreneur with a successful and growing business that has demonstrated leadership, strong financial performance, and innovative and marketable products and/or services.

The 2008 BBI Entrepreneur of the Year was presented to Pauline Patten, owner of Pauline's Beauty Care.

Every other year, the Hector Jacques Award of Business Excellence recognizes companies that demonstrate exceptionally strong business acumen, managing the business well with a fine-tuned intelligence.

The 2008 Hector Jacques Award of Business Excellence was presented to Dr. Abdullah Kirumira, founder and owner of BioMedica, which helps provide accessible and affordable health care solutions to third world counties.

The deadline for the 2009 Business Awards is April 24, 2009.
